West Bromwich Albion have signed Brian Okonkwo, a former Arsenal goalkeeper, for their Under 21 squad on a one year deal. The 19 year old agreed terms after a successful trial period with the club.
Standing at 6 ft 5 in, Okonkwo impressed early, featuring in all three of Albion U21’s recent Premier League 2 matches across all competitions.
He left Arsenal in the summer after progressing through their youth academy, having joined at age 12. Before the move, he had loan spells at Hitchin Town, Leatherhead, and Cheshunt, gaining valuable match experience.
Okonkwo is the younger brother of Arthur Okonkwo, who plays as a goalkeeper for Wrexham in the Sky Bet Championship. Family ties aside, Brian is now looking to build on his potential with regular game time at West Brom.
